Former Punjab Chief Minister and BJP leader Capt Amarinder Singh on Friday advocated for improved crop procurement processes in Punjab, promising to urge the central government to intervene on behalf of farmers and arthiyas (commission agents). During his visit to Khanna Dana Mandi, Capt expressed his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the agricultural community. He emphasised the need for timely and efficient procurement, highlighting the hurdles caused by inadequate planning by the current Punjab government.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Capt shared, “Met with our hardworking farmers, arthiyas, and laborers. Unfortunately, they are facing obstacles due to inadequate procurement planning by the AAP-led Punjab government,” he said. Capt remarks come amid ongoing concerns over delays and inefficiencies in Punjab’s crop procurement processes, an issue that has caused unrest among local stakeholders in the agriculture sector.
