Punjab to restore regular government office hours from July 1

The Punjab government has announced that all state government offices will return to their regular working hours from July 1, ending the temporary summer schedule introduced earlier this year. A government spokesperson said offices of all state departments, boards, corporations and institutions across Punjab and Chandigarh will function from 9:00am to 5:00pm from July 1.The revised timings replace the summer schedule of 7:30am to 1:30pm, which was introduced on 25 May to help employees and the public avoid working during the hottest part of the day.

The spokesperson said the temporary timings will remain in effect until 30 June, after which all offices will resume their normal routine.The change will apply to all state government departments, boards, corporations and institutions operating in Punjab and Chandigarh. The Punjab government had introduced the earlier office hours as a seasonal measure during the peak summer months. With temperatures expected to ease, officials say government offices will now return to their standard working schedule from the beginning of July.
