Chandigarh, April 9
Two men were arrested in Dasuya for allegedly siphoning liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from tankers and selling it illegally, police said on Thursday. The accused, identified as Mandeep Singh and Tarlochan Singh, are both residents of Dasuya. According to police, a team from Dasuya police station conducted a raid at a ground near Gurdwara Takkar Sahib after receiving specific information. During the operation, police found two LPG tankers parked at the spot.
Investigators said the accused were transferring LPG from the tankers into domestic gas cylinders for illegal sale. Police warned that the activity was extremely dangerous and could have triggered a major mishap. Two domestic cylinders were also seized from the spot. A case has been registered against both men at the Dasuya police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Essential Commodities Act, and the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order. Further investigation into the matter is continuing.
