Patiala, June 23

Amid discussions over a possible change in the post of Punjab Congress president, party chief Raja Warring avoided answering questions related to the leadership change during his visit to Patiala on Tuesday. When asked about the possibility of changing the Punjab Congress president, Warring avoided the question, saying the focus should remain on the ongoing struggle for now, while discussions about the party president’s post could be held later.

Raja Warring also visited the protest site of apprentice linemen at Bhairpura village, where he interacted with the protesting youth for around an hour. He appealed to the protesters who had climbed towers to come down. The department had agreed to conduct the written examination of these candidates on the 15th.

Meanwhile, Punjab Congress Malwa Zone in-charge Heena Kawade said that no official order has been received from the Congress high command regarding any change in the state party leadership. She said the party will continue working under the existing arrangement until further instructions are issued.

Heena Kawade said that discussions about changing the state Congress president had been ongoing since she was appointed Malwa Zone in-charge. However, she clarified that no instruction has been issued by the high command so far.

When asked whether any meeting discussed replacing Raja Warring with another leader, Kawade denied it, saying no such discussion took place. She added that the meeting focused on preparing a strategy to win the upcoming Punjab Assembly elections.

Despite speculation on social media about a possible change in the Punjab Congress leadership, party leaders have so far remained silent and avoided making direct statements on the issue.
