Chandigarh, March 7
Punjab Police have partnered with Punjabi University Patiala and the Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMRC) to introduce a 10-hour anti-drug awareness course under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, aiming to curb drug abuse among the state’s youth. The course, featuring lectures, audio-visual content, and interactive sessions, will be rolled out in schools and identified drug hotspots from the next academic session, said ADGP Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Nilabh Kishore. The participants will receive certificates upon completion.
The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by ADGP Nilabh Kishore, Punjabi University Registrar Prof. Sanjiv Puri, and EMRC Director Daljeet Ami, in the presence of DGP Gaurav Yadav at Punjab Police headquarters. Digital content will be developed by EMRC and Punjabi University, with ANTF Punjab overseeing the curriculum and appointing an editorial board. The course will be available in both English and Punjabi. DGP Gaurav Yadav emphasized the initiative’s role in protecting young people and communities from drug abuse, aligning with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s vision of a drug-free Punjab.
