Patiala, May 28
Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh on Wednesday flagged off a bus under the Punjab government’s Chief Minister Teerth Yatra Scheme from Patiala, enabling residents to undertake a free pilgrimage to Sri Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar and other religious destinations.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Balbir Singh said that devotees from Gurbaksh Colony, Deep Nagar, and Jujhar Nagar had participated in the pilgrimage. He stated that the Punjab government’s initiative has received an overwhelming public response, with many beneficiaries expressing gratitude for the scheme.
The minister highlighted that passengers traveling under the scheme are not required to pay any fare and are being provided with multiple facilities during the journey. He added that the buses are air-conditioned and the entire expenditure is being borne by the Punjab government.
Extending his wishes to the pilgrims, Dr. Balbir Singh hoped the devotees would have a peaceful, safe, and spiritually fulfilling journey.
