Chandigarh, January 9
Chairman of the Punjab State Child Rights Protection Commission, Kanwardeep Singh, has proposed a shift in school timings for the safety and comfort of students amid extreme cold and dense fog. In his recommendation to the Punjab School Education Department, Kanwardeep Singh highlighted the challenges children are facing due to the adverse weather conditions. He noted that younger children, in particular, are reluctant to attend school because of the harsh weather.
Singh suggested that both government and private schools adjust their schedules to begin at 10 AM, effective until January 31, 2025. This change aims to safeguard the well-being of students. The chairman also mentioned a rise in school bus accidents in the past two days, which he attributed to dense fog, further justifying the proposed timing adjustment to avoid potential hazards.
