Patiala, June 2
The Patiala Police have solved the murder case of an e-rickshaw driver that occurred near the New Bus Stand and arrested three accused allegedly involved in the crime.
Addressing a press conference, DSP City-II Jagjit Singh Randhawa said that following the murder of e-rickshaw driver Abhishek Malik, an FIR No. 117 was registered at Urban Estate Police Station. Acting on the complaint and evidence gathered during the investigation, police arrested the main accused, identified as Gursewak Singh alias Cheeku, Manish Kumar, and Rajvinder Singh alias Raju.
According to the police, the murder was motivated by a long-standing personal grudge. Investigators revealed that some time ago, Malik had assisted the village panchayat in Village Chaura in removing a woman who had been living with Gursewak Singh. The accused allegedly harboured resentment over the incident and blamed Malik for tarnishing their reputation in the village.
Police said all the accused, as well as the deceased, belonged to the same village, and the hostility eventually culminated in the fatal attack.
DSP Randhawa said the three accused would be produced before the court, and police remand would be sought to further investigate the case and uncover any additional links to the crime.
