Panchkula Police arrested two alleged mobile snatchers within 24 hours of a snatching incident reported in Sector-7 and recovered the stolen mobile phone along with the motorcycle used in the crime, officials said on Tuesday.

According to police, the incident occurred on May 24, when a resident of Manimajra, Chandigarh, was on his way to work near the Government School in Sector-7. Two youths riding a black Splendor motorcycle allegedly snatched his mobile phone and fled the spot.

Following the complaint, a case was registered at Sector-7 Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Acting swiftly, the police team led by Inspector Rajesh Kumar launched an investigation.

Based on secret information, Head Constable Amandeep Singh and his team arrested the two accused near Suraj Cinema in Sector-1. The accused were identified as Karan Khan, a resident of Sector-30B, Chandigarh, currently living in Old Panchkula, and Suraj, originally from Panipat district and presently residing in Khadak Mangoli, Old Panchkula.

During the search operation, police recovered the stolen mobile phone from Karan Khan’s possession. The motorcycle used in the crime was later recovered from the parking area of Suraj Cinema. Investigation revealed that the bike had also been stolen.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Srishti Gupta said both accused were arrested within 24 hours of the crime. Police records showed that Suraj was previously involved in cases related to theft, snatching, NDPS, and assault, while Karan Khan also had multiple theft cases registered against him.

Both accused were produced before a court and sent to judicial custody. Police said strict action against criminal activities in the city will continue.
