The Haryana government has appointed Om Prakash Singh as the acting Director General of Police (DGP) after sending Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor on leave, officials said on Tuesday. The order was issued by the state’s Home Department and confirmed by Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Haryana Government to the media. Amid growing calls for action against the key accused in the alleged suicide case of Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, the Haryana government has sent Director General of Police (DGP) Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor on leave.
Om Prakash Singh, a 1992-batch IPS officer, currently serves as Managing Director of the Haryana Police Housing Corporation, Director of FSL Madhuban, and Director General of the Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau. Known for his administrative skills, discipline, and operational experience, Om Prakash Singh will now take strategic charge of the state police.
The decision, approved by the Governor, was made during Kapoor’s leave period to ensure continuity in departmental functioning.
