Patiala, May 23
A shocking and tragic incident has emerged from Kherki village in Patiala district, where a woman allegedly stabbed her one-and-a-half-year-old daughter to death, police said. The accused woman has been arrested after a case was registered against her at Pasiana Police Station.
According to police officials, the incident took place three days ago in the Samana subdivision of Patiala. SHO Gurpreet Singh Handa of Pasiana Police Station said the police rushed to the village immediately after receiving information about the crime.
During the preliminary investigation, police found that the accused woman was reportedly suffering from mental distress and was undergoing treatment for depression. Despite this, a formal case was registered against her based on the child’s father’s statement.
Police have taken the accused into custody, and further investigation into the matter is underway. The incident has sent shockwaves across the local community, raising concerns about mental health awareness and family support systems.
