Panchkula, June 10
A 27-year-old man was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside a bathroom at Sector 6 Civil Hospital in Panchkula on Tuesday morning, triggering panic within the hospital premises.
According to hospital authorities, the body was discovered in a bathroom located adjacent to the emergency ward after hospital staff noticed that the door had remained locked for an unusually long period. Despite repeated attempts to contact the occupant, there was no response from inside.
Hospital employee Rinku said the bathroom door was eventually broken open, following which the man was found lying unconscious inside. He stated that the body had become stiff and that syringes along with suspected narcotic substances were recovered from the scene.
An Aadhaar card recovered from the spot helped identify the deceased as Rehman, son of Ramzan Ali, a resident of Malikpur in Yamunanagar district.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased may have injected himself with a narcotic substance, possibly leading to a fatal overdose. However, officials stated that the exact cause of death would only be confirmed after the post-mortem examination.
Hospital PMO Dr R.S. Chauhan said the administration received information in the morning regarding a young man being found dead inside the bathroom.
“Initial information suggests that the deceased was around 27 years old, married, and a resident of Yamunanagar. The police were informed immediately,” Dr Chauhan said.
He further stated that the post-mortem report would determine the precise cause of death.
Police reached the hospital soon after receiving the information and took possession of the body before sending it for post-mortem examination. Items recovered from the scene have also been seized for forensic investigation.
Officials said the police are examining the case from multiple angles, and further action will depend on the findings of the post-mortem report and ongoing investigation.
The incident sparked concern and discussion among patients and hospital staff.
Meanwhile, patients visiting Panchkula’s Sector 6 Hospital also faced inconvenience after the hospital server reportedly stopped functioning for nearly an hour that day. Due to the technical issue, people arriving for medical slips and registrations were forced to wait for long periods.
Hospital staff had to manually prepare slips during the outage to manage the influx of patients. The server was restored after around one hour, bringing relief to both patients and hospital employees.
