Senior IAS officer Kamlesh Kumar Pant on Monday assumed charge as the acting Chief Secretary of Himachal Pradesh. Pant, a 1993 batch IAS officer originally from Uttarakhand, has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the state bureaucracy. He has held several key administrative positions in the state government and is considered an experienced officer in governance and public administration.
After taking charge, Pant said ensuring that the benefits of the state government’s welfare schemes reach the last person in society would remain his top priority. He said the administrative machinery would be strengthened and made more accountable for the effective implementation of government policies and programs across the state.
Highlighting the financial challenges being faced by Himachal Pradesh, Pant said a detailed and effective plan would be prepared to improve financial management and ensure better utilization of available resources.
He expressed confidence that through coordinated efforts, the government would be able to achieve development goals and strengthen public welfare initiatives in the state.
According to an official notification issued by the state government, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla appointed Kamlesh Kumar Pant
Pant, a 1993 batch IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, is currently serving as Additional Chief Secretary Revenue to the Government of Himachal Pradesh cum Financial Commissioner Revenue, Himachal Pradesh. He also holds the portfolios of Additional Chief Secretary for Forests, Home, and Vigilance.
Apart from these responsibilities, Pant is also serving as the Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board, Shimla.
The notification stated that he will hold the additional charge of the post of Chief Secretary until further orders.
