Panchkula, June 23
A government school teacher was found dead after allegedly hanging herself at her rented residence in the Housing Board Colony area of Kalka, police said. The body was taken into custody and sent to the mortuary at SDH Kalka for post-mortem examination.
A crime scene team arrived at the scene and collected necessary evidence as part of the investigation.
The deceased was identified as Anita, a government teacher in Parwanoo, Himachal Pradesh. She was residing alone in a rented house in Kalka Housing Board Colony. Her husband, Raghubir, works in Gurugram, while their son was staying with relatives in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
According to police, Anita had not been answering phone calls for the past few days. After her husband informed their son, the family members became concerned. Later, Anita’s brother reached Kalka after receiving the information.
As the house door was locked from the inside, her brother climbed a ladder into the room and found Anita hanging from a ceiling fan. Police were immediately informed about the incident.
Kalka Police Station in-charge Pratap Singh said a diary was recovered from the room, which allegedly contained a suicide note written by Anita. The note reportedly mentioned her husband and his female friend in connection with her death.
Police said the preliminary investigation also revealed that the couple had an argument over the phone last Saturday.
Based on the condition of the body, police suspect that the woman may have died two to three days before she was found. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
