Airlines such as IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air have issued a travel advisory for passengers as heavy rains continue to batter Mumbai. The IMD has forecast rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong winds to persist for the next 48 hours. India’s largest airline, IndiGo, shared on Twitter that while the heavy downpour has eased in parts of Mumbai, some areas are still experiencing delays due to the rain. The airline advised passengers heading to the airport to leave earlier than usual, as commuting could be affected. It also urged travellers to check their specific flight details for any last-minute changes or delays.
“The downpour has settled across Mumbai, and some parts of the city are already facing delays on the roads. If you are travelling to the airport, we recommend starting a little earlier than usual and checking your flight details on our app or website,” IndiGo said in an official post on Twitter. The airline also assured passengers that airport staff are on standby to assist and help ensure a smoother journey during the rains. Similarly, Akasa Air and Spice Jet also advised its flyers to leave early due to the ongoing heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Mumbai Airport has also urged passengers to confirm their flight status with respective airlines and allow extra travel time to reach the airport.
