Saharanpur, March 27
A 54-year-old devotee from Haryana died of a heart attack while waiting in a queue at the Shakambhari Devi Temple on Thursday, police said on Friday.
The victim, identified as Sant Narayan from Karnal, suddenly fell ill while waiting for darshan amid a heavy rush of devotees, according to Behat Station House Officer Satpal Bhati.
Witnesses said Narayan complained of chest pain before collapsing, causing panic among those present. He was rushed to the district hospital in an ambulance, where he succumbed despite treatment.
His identity was confirmed through his Aadhaar card and mobile phone, and his family was notified. Doctors have sent the body for post-mortem examination.
