Fatehgarh Sahib, May 28
A bus driver was killed, and 15 passengers were injured after a luxury bus collided with a trailer truck near Patarsi Kalan village in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib district on Thursday, police officials said.
The bus was travelling from Delhi to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra, Jammu, when the accident took place. Officials said the collision was severe, leaving the front of the bus extensively damaged.
The deceased driver was identified as Inderjit Singh, a resident of Ferozepur. Police officials said the injured passengers were shifted to the Civil Hospital, Fatehgarh Sahib, and hospitals in Chandigarh for treatment.
Assistant Sub Inspector Jagroop Singh said rescue teams rushed to the spot soon after the accident and initiated relief operations. The body of the deceased driver has been sent for postmortem examination.
Police said further investigation into the incident is underway.
