Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon’s cloud computing arm, is planning to invest approximately $8.2 billion in Maharashtra over the coming years, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) said. Sharing details, IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw took to his Twitter account and said that the cloud investment is aiming to boost technological infrastructure and create significant job opportunities in the region. This move is expected to advance the state’s digital transformation and expand AWS’s presence in India.The announcement follows a productive discussion between AWS’s president for India and South Asia, Sandeep Dutta, and local officials. The investment will focus on expanding data centers and cloud services, providing thousands of new jobs and supporting India’s growing tech ecosystem. AWS’s commitment emphasizes its confidence in Maharashtra as a key hub for innovation and technology in Asia.
