Panchkula, June 11
Seed-producing farmers from across Haryana staged a protest outside the Haryana Seed Development Corporation office in Panchkula on Thursday, demanding the immediate release of their pending payments. The farmers alleged that nearly ₹16 crore in wheat seed procurement dues has not been cleared, causing financial distress to growers across the state.
Farmers from several districts raised slogans against the department and accused the corporation of delaying payments despite repeated appeals. They claimed that growers from multiple regions have been waiting for months to receive their dues.
According to the protesting farmers, the corporation has yet to clear around ₹5 crore owed to farmers in Hisar, ₹8.5 crore in Sirsa, ₹3.5 crore in Tohana, along with payments pending in other units.
Union leader Mahender Payal said the continued delay in payments could disrupt seed production and distribution. He warned that if the outstanding amount is not released soon, farmers may stop supplying seeds to the corporation, which could ultimately affect the availability of quality seeds for cultivators across Haryana.
The farmers urged the authorities to resolve the issue at the earliest and ensure timely payments to prevent further disruption in the agricultural sector.
