Patiala, May 22
A B.Tech student was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Hostel at Punjabi University, prompting a police investigation. The deceased has been identified as Varunpreet Singh, a resident of Tarn Taran district.
Providing details, Jangjeet Singh Randhawa said that police received information about the incident and that teams from Urban Estate Police Station immediately reached the university campus. The student’s body was found inside his hostel room and was taken into police custody for further proceedings.
Police officials stated that no suicide note or evidence suggesting murder has been found so far. Authorities said the exact cause of death can only be confirmed after the postmortem report is received. The family has been informed, and further investigation is underway.
