Chandigarh, April 3
Earthquake tremors were felt across several parts of north India on Friday night, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh prompting residents in some areas to move out of their homes as a precaution.
The tremors struck at around 9:46pm and lasted only a few seconds, according to initial reports.
In Chandigarh, a resident, Ranjan Kumar, said he felt a sudden jolt while inside his second-floor flat. “It was strong but lasted only a few seconds,” he said.. Another resident Sarabjit Singh described a similar experience and said residents briefly considered evacuating the building before the shaking subsided.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Authorities have not issued any alerts so far.
