Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema has called on corporate entities to take Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) more seriously, saying businesses must be fully accountable for their social impact. Cheema made the remarks while receiving a cheque of ₹31 lakh for the Chief Minister’s Rangla Punjab Fund from Sarvjit Singh Samra, Managing Director and CEO of Capital Small Finance Bank on Tuesdy.
He praised the bank’s contribution, noting that CSR played a critical role in supporting communities affected by recent natural disasters. The Rangla Punjab Fund, he said, is being used to assist families across the state who suffered severe losses during this year’s floods. The minister added that the donation would directly support ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts, and urged more corporates to step forward with similar commitments.
