The State Bank of India has classified Reliance Communications and its promoter-director Anil Dhirubhai Ambani as ‘fraud’ and is preparing to file a complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation, Parliament was informed on Monday. The classification, made on June 13, 2025, follows RBI’s Master Directions on Fraud Risk Management and the bank’s internal policy, according to Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary. The bank informed the RBI on June 24, 2025. RCom is undergoing insolvency proceedings under the IBC, and a resolution plan filed with NCLT Mumbai is awaiting approval.
