Chandigarh, July 21
Air India flight AI2744, operating from Kochi to Mumbai on 21 July 2025, encountered heavy rainfall during landing, which led to a runway excursion after touchdown at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The aircraft managed to taxi safely to the gate despite the incident, and all passengers and crew were safely deplanes without any injuries. Minor damage was reported on the main runway due to the excursion.
Following the event, the aircraft has been grounded for inspection as a safety precaution. The airport has since activated its secondary runway to ensure continued operations. Air India emphasized that the safety of its passengers and crew remains its top priority said Air India spoksperson.
