Kullu, May 5
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Bhuntar police in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district recovered 17.28 grams of heroin (chitta) from a woman during a naka checking operation in Kahudhar area.
The accused has been identified as Urmila (22), wife of Raj Kumar, a resident of Bhuntar tehsil. According to police officials, the recovery was made on May 4, 2026, during routine patrolling and checkpoint duty, when the woman was intercepted for suspicious movements.
Upon search, the contraband was seized from her possession, following which she was taken into custody. A case has been registered under Section 21 of the NDPS Act at Bhuntar police station, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.
Superintendent of Police Kullu, Madan Lal, confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are underway to ascertain whether the accused has links to a larger drug trafficking network.
Police officials reiterated their commitment to intensifying the anti-drug campaign across the district, emphasizing strict action against those involved in the narcotics trade.
