United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived in Mumbai on Tuesday for his first official visit to India, accompanied by a high-level delegation of 125 members, including business leaders, university vice-chancellors, and cultural figures. Starmer was received at Mumbai airport by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X (formerly Twitter), “A warm welcome to Prime Minister @Keir_Starmer of the United Kingdom! Received by Governor of Maharashtra and Gujarat Mr. Acharya Devvrat @maha_governor at the airport. This visit marks a new chapter in our strong and dynamic India–UK partnership.”
The visit is expected to focus on strengthening trade relations, enhancing educational collaborations, and deepening cultural exchanges between the two countries.
