‘True servant of the people’: Guv Shukla pays tribute to Virbhadra

Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Tuesday paid homage to former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, describing him as a visionary leader and a dedicated public servant whose legacy continues to inspire. Speaking at a memorial event held at the historic Padam Mahal in Rampur on the occasion of Singh’s fourth death anniversary, the Governor said the late leader’s contributions to the state’s development remain “etched in the hearts” of the people. “He was not just a great politician but also a true guardian of Himachal’s cultural heritage,” Shukla remarked, highlighting Singh’s legislation against forced religious conversions as a mark of his commitment to preserving the state’s religious and cultural identity.

Virbhadra Singh, a six-time chief minister and one of Himachal Pradesh’s most influential political figures, died in 2021. He was widely credited for spearheading infrastructure development and educational reforms across the hill state. The Governor also offered condolences to Singh’s wife, Pratibha Singh, who serves as Himachal Congress president, and their son Vikramaditya Singh, a cabinet minister in the current government.

The ceremony was attended by senior Congress leaders, state ministers, family members, and local residents, all of whom paid tribute to Singh’s enduring legacy.
