Dharamshala, May 12
The Himachal Police have arrested three men after recovering 1.34 kg of charas during vehicle checking near Defense Road in Kopra area under Nurpur, officials said on Monday.
According to police, the arrest followed routine patrolling and the inspection of suspicious vehicles, during which teams stopped an Alto car and a Honda BR-V for inspection. During the search, officers recovered 1.34 kg of charas from the vehicles.
Superintendent of Police, Nurpur, Kulbhushan Verma, said a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
The accused have been identified as Saif Ali, Abdullah, and Farooq. All three are residents of the Churah area in the Chamba district.
Police said all the accused have been taken into custody, and both vehicles used in the alleged smuggling attempt have been impounded. Further investigation is underway.
