Chandigarh, June 6
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Tarun Chugh on Saturday filed their nomination papers for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections from Madhya Pradesh. The nominations were submitted at the state assembly complex in Bhopal in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state BJP president Hemant Khandelwal and other senior party leaders.
Ahead of the filing, the BJP held a meeting of its MLAs at the party headquarters, where leaders reviewed election preparations and organisational coordination. The chief minister, party leaders and the candidates later offered prayers at temples within the BJP office premises before proceeding to the assembly in a convoy.
Voting for the three Rajya Sabha seats from Madhya Pradesh is scheduled for 18 June, while nominations can be filed until 9 June. The BJP will secure two of the three seats, as it has 164 MLAs in the 230-member assembly. The Congress has 64 legislators, while one seat is held by the Bharat Adivasi Party and another remains vacant.
