Dharamshala, April 9
The Urban and Rural divisions of the BJP organised a conference for active members on Thursday, culminating in a spirited protest against the Congress-led state government at Kachehri Adda. Local MLA Sudhir Sharma joined party workers in the demonstration, where he condemned the administration for its alleged repressive tactics and for registering false FIRs against political opponents and common citizens alike. Sharma claimed that the government has failed to pay employees on time and to provide pensions to the elderly, creating a crisis that has forced unemployed youth to migrate to neighboring states in search of opportunities.
During the briefing, Sharma also raised serious concerns regarding the deteriorating law and order situation and the unchecked growth of the drug mafia, which he argued cannot operate without high-level protection. He specifically criticized the hasty implementation of the Authorised Testing Station (ATS) project and the legal actions taken against protesting taxi operators. Highlighting a potential case of administrative misconduct, the MLA alleged that an FIR against the union was filed under the name of an individual who never actually visited the police station, calling for an investigation into the police department for documenting fraudulent complaints.
