Punjab’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested a key suspect in the killing of Rakesh Kumar, also known as Gaggi, in Una district of Himachal Pradesh. Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said the accused, identified as Vipan Kumar from Hoshiarpur, was apprehended near Khanpur village in Kharar. Police recovered a .32 bore country-made pistol and six live cartridges from his possession.
Investigators believe the murder was the result of a gang rivalry involving foreign-based gangsters Laddi Bhajal alias Kooner and Monu Gujjar of the Ravi Balachauria group, and Babbi Rana of the Sonu Khatri gang. The victim, Rakesh Kumar, was known to be an associate of Rana.
Additional Director General of Police Promod Ban said the accused has a criminal background with cases linked to attempted murder, the Arms Act and the NDPS Act in both Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
A new case under the Arms Act has been registered against him at City Kharar police station. Police say investigations are continuing to trace wider connections in the case.
