Ratan Naval Tata, the chairman emeritus of Tata Group and a towering figure in Indian industry, passed away late Wednesday at the age of 86. Tata had been receiving treatment at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital for a prolonged illness.
Tata Sons chairman, N Chandrasekaran, paid tribute, stating, “We mourn the loss of Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, a visionary leader whose unparalleled contributions not only transformed the Tata Group but also played a pivotal role in shaping India’s industrial landscape.”
Ratan Tata was widely respected for steering the conglomerate through transformative growth and his philanthropic initiatives.
