Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday praised Group Captain Shubanshu Shukla, the country’s first astronaut to serve on the International Space Station (ISS). He said he was “delighted” to meet Shukla on board the orbiting laboratory, describing his space mission as “inspiring.” “We discussed his remarkable journey, the vital experiments he undertook in orbit, advances in science and technology, and the road ahead with India’s pioneering Gaganyaan mission,” the minister wrote on X, formerly Twitter. He added that Shukla’s achievements would inspire India’s younger generation to pursue science and space exploration.
