Chandigarh, June 13
The Punjab Police have arrested three people and seized heroin, restricted pharmaceutical drugs, ammunition and cash during two separate anti-drug operations in Ferozepur district, Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, said on Wednesday.
According to police, the operations were carried out by Ferozepur Police as part of an ongoing campaign against drug trafficking and illegal narcotics networks. Officers recovered 5.775kg of heroin, 133,640 restricted capsules and tablets, 39 cartridges of 7.65mm ammunition, and ₹36,600 in cash. Three suspects were arrested during the raids.
Police said separate cases have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and other relevant legal provisions at Arif Ke and Mamdot police stations.
DGP Yadav said further investigations are underway to identify other individuals linked to the network, trace financial transactions and uncover the broader supply chain. The Punjab Police said it remains committed to dismantling drug trafficking networks and making the state drug-free.
