Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence unit in Amritsar arrested six members of the Kaushal Chaudhary Gang, thwarting planned target killings in the state. Among those arrested were Puneet Lakhanpal, alias Sharma, and Narinder Kumar, alias Lalli, who had evaded capture for three years.
The accused were linked to the high-profile murders of Kabaddi player Sandeep Singh Nangal Ambian in 2022 and Sukhmeet Singh, alias Deputy, in 2021, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said Monday. They were also involved in a September 2024 shooting at the Highway King Hotel in Rajasthan and an extortion demand of ₹5 crores. Police recovered six sophisticated weapons and 40 live rounds during the operation. An FIR has been registered at PS SSOC Amritsar.
