Punjab Police have busted a cross-border weapon smuggling module with alleged links to Pakistan, seizing a large cache of arms and ammunition. Acting on a tip-off, Fazilka police arrested two men said to be working under the direction of foreign-based handlers. Officers recovered 18 pistols, 1,847 live cartridges and 42 magazines during the operation, said the DGP Gaurav Yadav in his post on X previously known as Twitter. The arrests mark a significant step in disrupting organised smuggling networks operating across the India-Pakistan border, the DGP said. Police have launched a wider investigation to identify the network’s forward and backward linkages, trace other members and establish the full scale of the operation, he added.
