In a major security operation, Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence wing in Jalandhar has busted dismantled a terror module linked to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), backed by Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan.
According to Gaurav Yadav, Director General of Police, Punjab, the module was being operated by UK-based handlers Nishan Jaurian and Adesh Jamarai on the directions of BKI mastermind Harwinder Singh Rinda.
Police recovered 2.5 kg of IED/RDX along with a remote control from the possession of two operatives — Gurjinder Singh and Diwan Singh — who were arrested in Jalandhar.
Preliminary investigations suggest the explosive device was meant to be used in a targeted terror attack. A case has been registered at Police Station SSOC in Amritsar under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
DGP Yadav reaffirmed the state police’s commitment to dismantling transnational terror and organized crime networks supported by Pakistan’s ISI and ensuring peace and security in Punjab.
