Punjab Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora has urged global investors to explore opportunities in the state’s agro-food sector, saying Punjab could emerge as a hub for food processing industries. Speaking at the World Food India 2025 event held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Arora said Punjab’s agricultural base offered “vast strengths” and that investor-friendly policies were in place. He added that all necessary clearances for setting up industries in Punjab would be provided within 45 days. Arora also announced that an independent committee on food processing had been formed to draft a new industrial policy. “Punjab has the potential to become the next global hub for agro-food business, driving growth from our farms to international markets,” he said.
Delegations from the UAE-based Lulu Group, Russia’s Ziak Group, NCML, Jafza, Allonsons, Bitzer, Haldiram and Bikaner were among those who met Arora and expressed interest in investing in the state.
Union Food Processing Minister Chirag Paswan visited the Punjab pavilion at the event and praised the state’s products, promising a visit to Punjab in the near future. The Punjab delegation also included senior officials such as Rakhi Gupta Bhandari, Kamal Kishor Yadav, Amit Dhaka, and Seema Bansal, alongside representatives from KPMG.
