Chandigarh, July 8
Former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal, along with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, launched the ‘Mukhyamantri Sehat Yojana’ in Chandigarh on Tuesday, promising free medical treatment worth up to ₹10 lakh annually for every eligible resident of Punjab. The scheme is set to benefit nearly 3 crore people, including permanent residents, government employees, and pensioners. Under the programme, MMSY health cards will be issued, granting access to free and cashless treatment in both government and empanelled private hospitals.
“This is a historic step to ensure quality healthcare for every citizen of Punjab. Our government is committed to transforming public health infrastructure,” said Chief Minister Mann. The government initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of medical treatment on families and improve healthcare outcomes across the state. Kejriwal praised the Punjab government’s initiative, calling it a model for other states to follow.
