President Droupadi Murmu on Monday took a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, calling the event a symbol of India’s rich cultural heritage. “This grand gathering of faith and belief is a wonderful and living testament to India’s traditions. Maha Kumbh conveys a message of unity and spirituality to humanity,” Murmu said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. The president also prayed for divine blessings, expressing hope that Maa Ganga would continue to bring happiness and peace into people’s lives. The Maha Kumbh, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, attracts millions of devotees, ascetics, and pilgrims from across the country. She is only the second Indian President to take a dip in Sangam after Rajendra Prasad.
Meanwhile according to media reports, a massive traffic jam described by netizens as the ‘world’s biggest traffic jam’ brought vehicular movement to a standstill across a 200-300 km stretch in Madhya Pradesh. The gridlock was triggered by an overwhelming influx of pilgrims traveling to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, effectively turning highways into sprawling parking lots.
