Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud said that he had prayed for guidance to resolve the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute, which was decided by the Supreme Court in 2019. CJI Chandrachud was part of the bench led by former CJI Ranjan Gogoi, which ruled in favor of Hindu parties after an extensive three-month hearing.
According to media reports, CJI Chandrachud emphasized the challenges of reaching a resolution in the Ayodhya case, stating, “Very often we have cases to adjudicate, but we don’t arrive at a solution. Something similar happened during the Ayodhya dispute.” He recounted sitting before the deity in prayer, asking for a solution to the complex issue, reported the news outlet Bar and Bench. He made these remarks while addressing residents of his hometown, Kanhersar village in Maharashtra’s Khed taluka, where he was honored for his achievements.
