External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar on Saturday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always maintained a “very good personal equation” with US President Donald Trump, stressing that New Delhi “remains engaged with the United States. His comments came after an exchange of warm words between Modi and Trump about the state of bilateral ties.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi responded to the US president’s remarks with a message on X, formerly Twitter. “I deeply appreciate and fully reciprocate President Trump’s sentiments and positive assessment of our ties,” he wrote, describing India and the US as partners in a “positive and forward-looking Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership.” Trump, who had earlier caused unease by posting on his Truth Social platform that the US was “losing India,” later downplayed those concerns. Speaking to reporters, Trump said “I don’t think we have. I get along very well with Indian PM Modi, as you know, he was here a couple of months ago, we went to the Rose Garden. I will always be friends with Modi, he is a great Prime Minister. India and the United States have a special relationship. There is nothing to worry about.” Dr. Jaishankar refrained from expanding further on the issue, saying only: “At this time, I have this much to say.
