Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the day as a “historic” milestone in India–UK ties, following the formal conclusion of a much-anticipated free trade agreement with Britain.
Posting on social media platform X, Mr Modi wrote: “Today is a historic day in our relations. I am delighted that after many years of hard work, a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement has been concluded between our two countries.”
He also thanked his British counterpart, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, for what he called a warm welcome and generous hospitality during their meeting.
