Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district on Tuesday to review the damage caused by recent floods and landslides. He was received at Gaggal Airport by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who later joined him for a review meeting with senior officials.
The state government is seeking a special relief package from the Centre to cope with widespread destruction triggered by heavy rains. Earlier talking to media, Sukhu said that several districts had suffered severe losses to infrastructure, agriculture and livelihoods, and stressed the urgency of financial assistance.
