Dibrugarh(Assam), April 1
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited a tea garden in Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Wednesday, where he met women workers and praised the contribution of tea garden families in the poll-bound state.
In a post on X after the visit, Modi described tea as the “soul of Assam” and said the state’s tea had earned global recognition.
He said his interaction with women workers in Dibrugarh had been “a very memorable experience”.
“We are very proud of the efforts of each and every tea garden family. Their hard work and perseverance have enhanced Assam’s pride,” the Prime Minister wrote.
The visit comes as Assam prepares for elections, with political activity intensifying across the state.
Tea gardens remain central to Assam’s economy and social fabric, and workers in the sector are seen as an influential voter group in several constituencies.
