Petrol bomb hurled at BJP leader’s clinic in  Bathinda

Chandigarh, June 23

Two unidentified men threw a petrol bomb at the clinic of a local BJP leader, causing minor damage but no injuries. The incident took place late on Monday night at a homeopathic clinic run by Tarsem Garg in Vishal Nagar on Mela Ram Road. Garg, a local BJP leader, recently joined the party along with his family after leaving the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).According to police, the attackers arrived on foot and threw a petrol-filled bottle at the clinic after setting it on fire. The clinic is located opposite an office of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).Garg said he was informed about the attack by a member of his staff. A scooter parked outside the clinic caught fire after the bottle exploded, but employees managed to extinguish the flames before the fire could spread.

“No one was injured in the incident,” Garg said. The attackers fled the scene, reportedly leaving behind another bottle filled with petrol. The discovery has raised concerns among local residents and business owners in the area.Garg said he was unaware of any personal dispute that could have led to the attack. He added that CCTV footage appeared to show one individual throwing the petrol bomb while another recorded the incident on a mobile phone. Senior police officers, including Deputy Inspector General Harjit Singh and Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police Jyoti Yadav, visited the site to assess the situation and review the evidence.

The Police said multiple teams have been formed to identify and trace those responsible. The police officials  are examining CCTV footage and other leads as part of the ongoing probe.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities have not ruled out any angle.
