Parliament has passed the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, which seeks to balance industry growth with safeguards against addiction and financial fraud. The Rajya Sabha has approved the legislation on Thursday, a day after it cleared by the Lok Sabha, rejecting amendments from Opposition MPs. Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the Bill was designed to “promote what’s good and prohibit what’s harmful” for the middle class and young people, amid rising concerns over money laundering and gaming-related risks.
