Panchkula, June 16
A 22-year-old woman was killed, and seven others were injured in a road accident near Nolta village in Panchkula on Tuesday after an Innova vehicle reportedly went out of control.
According to preliminary information, eight people were travelling in the vehicle when the accident occurred. Police suspect that brake failure and overspeeding may have led to the mishap.
The deceased has been identified as Usha, aged 22. The driver, Hemant, sustained serious injuries in the crash, while the remaining passengers suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Injured passengers told authorities that the vehicle had been making unusual noises before the accident. They also alleged that the driver was travelling at high speed. The vehicle reportedly became uncontrollable while negotiating a turn and crashed.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are examining the exact cause of the accident.
