French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit France in early February for a state visit and attend the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit in Paris. While no official information has been issued by India’s Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) or the Prime Minister’s Office(PMO) so far, Macron’s remarks signal an opportunity for strengthened Indo-French ties.
Media reports suggest that during Modi’s visit, India and France may finalize a €7 billion deal for 26 Rafale Marine fighter jets, although this remains unconfirmed. The story will be updated as more details emerge from the PMO or the MEA.
Speaking at the French Ambassadors Conference, Macron outlined the significance of the AI summit, which is scheduled for February 11-12. “This summit will enable us to have an international discussion on artificial intelligence. PM Modi will be there immediately after his state visit, and this allows us to engage with global powers such as the U.S., China, India, and Gulf states on AI,” Macron said.
