Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the Indian Women’s Hockey Team for their historic victory in the 2024 Women’s Asian Champions Trophy. The team triumphed with a hard-fought 1-0 win over China, marking their third Asian Championship title. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi hailed the team’s “exceptional performance” throughout the tournament, stating that their success would inspire future athletes. “A phenomenal accomplishment! Their success will motivate many upcoming athletes,” he wrote.
President Murmu also shared her congratulations, commending the team for their undefeated run in the tournament. “The girls defended their title and made India proud,” she said. She also praised Deepika, who scored the winning goal in the final match and was the tournament’s top scorer. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah expressed his pride, calling the victory a “historic third title” and wishing the team continued success. “What a moment of pride for the nation,” he added.
